20/2/19 - Fortress Command Wins On Debut

2yo Sebring colt Fortress Command has won impressively on debut at Wyong over 1350m for trainer Gerald Ryan and owners Sun Stud.

Fortress Command jumped well from the gates for jockey Brett Prebble and was allowed to settle midfield in the run. On the home turn he was taken to the middle of the track where he showed excellent acceleration to win by a comfortable 1.3 lengths.

"He's a nice colt that will be very good when gets up over 1600m and further. I told Sun Stud we might look at races like the Fernhill or Champagne Stakes for him later in the Autumn" trainer Gerald Ryan said.

Sun Stud purchased Fortress Command's dam Prairie Star (pictured) for $240,000 from Bell View Park's draft of mares at the 2016 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale. Prairie Star was in foal Sebring with Fortress Command being the result of the mating.

Fortress Command is a half brother to G3 placed Leotie and his dam Prairie Star is a stakes placed High Chaparral mare and half sister to stakes performers Marianne and Our Miss Jones.
